Dad's 93rd Birthday

Today is my Dad’s 93rd Birthday. His has been a life well lived. He has seen the Great Depression and he fought for his country in World War II.

In his youth he played the Violin and was Concert Master with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

He shaves and puts on a white shirt and tie every day. Then goes down for breakfast. After breakfast he reads the Philadelphia Inquirer from front to back. Later in the day he checks out the Food Channel on TV. He loves to take family and friends to his favorite restaurants.
He credits my Mother’s good care for his long and happy life.

When I was 12 years old he became my Dad and I am sure my life has bee richer for having had him in my life. Happy Birthday Dad.

Today Is My Birthday

Today is my Birthday. In true blogger kind of celebration, I looked up quotes from greater minds than mine.
I did lean a few things from these quotes.....but first read the clever quotes.....I will tell you my thoughts at the end of this post.

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
Abraham Lincoln

A woman has the age she deserves. Coco Chanel

I'm not interested in age. People who tell me their age are silly. You're as old as you feel. Elizabeth Arden

None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm. Henry David Thoreau

First you are young; then you are middle-aged; then you are old; then you are wonderful.
Lady Diana Cooper

People like you and I, though mortal of course like everyone else, do not grow old no matter how long we live...[We] never cease to stand like curious children before the great mystery into which we were born. letter to Otto Juliusburger Albert Einstein

Enjoy Life.........Take care of yourself.....Numbers don’t matter.....Enjoy life with Enthusiasm.....I am not Wonderful yet.....OK!!! Maybe I am Wonderful after all...In closing do as Norman Vincent Peale said ...Live your life and forget your age.

Small Friends In The Garden

It is amazing to me how much more you see when you are looking for neat things to photograph.
I have gardened for many years and have not often noticed, up close, the wonderful bugs and insects that frequent my garden.....oh! I have noticed some of the after effects, such as holes and bumps in leaves.....but never have I come so close to some of my little fellow garden lovers.
I guess it is true that most people look, but they do not see.

Click on the photos to get a close up look.
Here is a beautiful Butterfly that loves my Herbs.

I must have shot at least ten photos trying to get a good photo of her underside that is amazingly beautiful to me.....the pattern remind me of a Gustav Klimt painting.

Here is a lovely green bug on a Day Lily blossom. Does anyone know his/her name?

Ken took this Butterfly picture in a friends garden.

Just this morning as I was watering I noticed this Praying Mantis. It reminded me of a Fable and a Poem by my friend Doug. You must read it, it is amazing...mine however is green and not golden...if you read Doug’s Fable and Poem you will understand why I just said that.

Here is one more photo...yes, there is a little friend there...Can you find him/her?

New Camera

The day after our Grandson was born our printer went to printer heaven.....Or is it, inkjet heaven?
This was just days after I had some computer problems fixed. Then while we were in Denmark, my digital camera started acting up. I felt it was time to upgrade especially after seeing these photos of Baby Victor that our son took on his Nikon Single lens reflex digital camera.
I studied for several days. Do I get a Nikon, a Canon or an Olympus? Finally after much study, I made a decision and bought an Olympus that comes with two lenses.....I am so happy with it that I want to show you photos that both Ken and I took of our garden and my Mother’s garden.

On To Live A Creative Life are more photos. I hope you enjoy them.
