Small Friends In The Garden
It is amazing to me how much more you see when you are looking for neat things to photograph.
I have gardened for many years and have not often noticed, up close, the wonderful bugs and insects that frequent my garden.....oh! I have noticed some of the after effects, such as holes and bumps in leaves.....but never have I come so close to some of my little fellow garden lovers.
I guess it is true that most people look, but they do not see.
Click on the photos to get a close up look.
Here is a beautiful Butterfly that loves my Herbs.
I must have shot at least ten photos trying to get a good photo of her underside that is amazingly beautiful to me.....the pattern remind me of a Gustav Klimt painting.
Here is a lovely green bug on a Day Lily blossom. Does anyone know his/her name?
Ken took this Butterfly picture in a friends garden.
Just this morning as I was watering I noticed this Praying Mantis. It reminded me of a Fable and a Poem by my friend Doug. You must read it, it is amazing...mine however is green and not golden...if you read Doug’s Fable and Poem you will understand why I just said that.
Here is one more photo...yes, there is a little friend there...Can you find him/her?

I am so glad you are back to blogging, Mo'a! I have missed you. Love your garden photos- isn't it fun to watch the little ones that visit our yards and gardens? Such a shame we seldom take the time to notice them. Doesn't even bother me that much if insects devour one of my plants, I just plant a new one and it gives me an excuse to visit the nursey and enjoy all the beautiful plants to choose from.
Peace-
Linda
I saw that little fly on the daisy! If that's the friend to whom you referred.
Your garden looks beautiful and inviting so no wonder you have so many little visitors. That green bug is amazing looking. It will be interesting to know what kind he is.
I see Nessa was by.
I think that's Euterpe's niece in the second to the bottom photo.
That's exactly what I'd expect your garden to look like. No pictures of the fairies I'm sure must live there too.
That was me Doug.
~mo'a~, your pictures are beautiful. Photography does help you see things you wouldn't normally.
What lovely friends you have! And such a beautiful setting to introduce us all!
oh Mo'a! what absolutely beautiful pictures! and such charming friends, to boot! (like G, i do, indeed, see that little housefly on the daisy... he seems so mundane, compared to the brilliance of the flowers and/or other critters... poor fellow)
speaking of "friends"... i sure hope some of us will be treated to a visit with one of you in the VERY near future!!
(sorry i didn't get by sooner -- you know how it is when you have company on the way... so much cleaning/so little time!) : )
Linda: It is good to be back and to be missed :)
I am having fun with my new subjects...only last night I found a insect that looks and acts like a Hummingbird only it had antennas and tiny little legs.
G: Yes, I was referring to the little fly...I so love the sound they make when the fly.
Two of the photos are from a friends garden...the bottom one and and photo #4...the other photos are from my garden.
Doug: Was that her? I did not even offer her coffee...I know she likes Starbucks.
Yes, it must be since my visitor is not gold.
I am sure my garden has Fairies, as sometimes I feel that I catch sight of the from the corner of my eye.
Nessa: And as I said to Doug, I did not even offer you a cup of coffee...I shall be more vigilant the next time.
Lea: They are dear friends and I feel lucky to have my new camera. I love gardens and spend as much time outside as I can...sometimes I wish I lived where I could garden the year around. One of my friends said that I would soon tire of that, because everyone needs dream time...time to plan next seasons garden. Clever friend :)
Neva: He does seem mundane...until...one hears his lovely sound as he flies from place to place.
I am planing to visit or meet up in NYC or something.
I know about that cleaning business...it's a drag don't you think.
Your photos are stunning.
By the way, I have a small niece from Iceland playing out in my garden right now :-)
Those photos are beautiful enough to be in ANY gardening or landscaping publication! And the insects are so pretty! I am a huge fan of butterflies, bees, katydids, spiders, & ESPECIALLY dragonflies and damselflies! You are quite the photographer, Mo'a! And quite the gardener as well!
Looks like you are having fun with that camera - great photos
Britt-Arnhild: Nice to see you here. How exciting :) Are the Icelandic people in your family?
Kai: Thank you...you are too kind :)
I also love dragonflies, I don't get many around here, but I see a darning needle sometimes when I water my plants.
Rachael: I am having so much fun.
Blogging and taking pictures has made me more aware of my surroundings.
