The New Leaf

For a number of years I have made it a practice to go by myself on an Artist Date. I think I have mentioned that in past posts. This is a time for me to get out of the studio, to forget responsibilities and to observe, think about and be inspired by what I see on these outings.

Lately, however, I do not go alone on most of these excursions, my Mother joins me.
My Mother is eighty four years old and can no longer drive due to an eye problem. Now that my ninety three year old Father does not drive any longer either, the only time they go out of the house is when someone else drives.
Mother and I enjoy our outings, we love to go out for lunch at nearby tea rooms,or restaurants and to take a look in gift shop or two.
Last week we went to a tea room called The New Leaf in Riverton, NJ.
Our lunch was delicious and the surroundings elegant. We enjoyed looking around and doing a little shopping in the delightful gift shop attached to the tea room.
Phyllis Rodgers the owner of the shop gave me kind
permission to take pictures and to write about our experiences at The New Leaf.

This shop is very near me. I have been in it and the items are beautiful. I have not had tea there, though.

How wonderful you that you have such a special shop close to you, and even more wonderful that you can share it with your mother.

Nicol: Thank you it is good to see you here.

Nessa: The tea there is wondeful...go and have tea there and tell them Mo'a sent you :)

Corey: Mine is the pleasure...there so many great places in my area.

Linda: I am enjoying my times with Mother and the search for good places to take her.

Oh, how lovely! I love mom's. Why does it seem that everyone got very very old all of a sudden? My dad has an ear problem, grandpa got his license taken away due to his eyes.. And had his knees done, and my grandma goes on and on and changes stories all around... But, still, I find them all more charming than ever.... I am glad you had such a lovely time!!! xxo (your mom must adore you, of course!)

Oh what a beautiful, dainty and utterly ladylike place to go and so perfect a place in which to have tea FO SHO my dearest LovaMóa! I can imagine the most exquisite tea cups there!

It reminded me of places that can be found here in San Francisco and has me daydreaming of a day where you might make it on over and I can show you around all over town, from the dainty corners to the hippy haunts, to the hardcore joints... you can see it all indeed!

Your mother is lucky to have a sweet and amazing daughter as that which you are and I am sure that you are lucky to have her as your mother. The little I know about her is enough for me to admire her beyond words FO SHO! Plus, she IS Pisces! ;-P

Glad you are living it up my dearest LovaMóa! Have a beautiful weekend and keep us posted and keep including pictures 'cause you know how I love them! :-)

Vanessa: I love the way you said
" But, still, I find them all more charming than ever" I think what it is all about...love your family no matter what or how they change the stories or tell the same ones over and over...and when they forget which language they should be using ;)

MizBohemia: Now that you are back in SF I feel that it will not be long until I come for a visit...I look forward to seeing what SF has to offer.
Yes, sometimes my Mother is a very Pisces...and I love it ;)

As my accented-trying-hard-to-speak-English-even-though-he-heavily-mixes-it-with-Spanish-and-no-one-understands-the-chatty-poor-little-thing son likes to say, OF KERS! I even have a comment there as proof of my having seen those beautiful pictures! :-)

If there are pictures to be seen, I am there to see them FO SHO! Which reminds me, perhaps we need a new post up there hmmmm? Yep, Pisceans can be somewhat bossy to DAS FO SHO! He, he, heeee!

Big besos from all the bohemians to LovaMóa, especially from yours truly!

Mo'a, what a sweet tradition and what a perfect thing to do on an artist's date. It makes me want to run to a tea shop! Riverton - where is that in relation to Marlton? Must google.

Bless bless (learned a little something from Minka during her stay ;).

Mo'a, this brought SUCH good memories to me. When my daughter was little (about 7) we lived very near a beautiful & quaint little shopping area known as Westbury Square. It had cobblestone walkways, and each shop represented a different country or craft. It was a glorious, magical place, & I loved it. My daughter and I went on rain-cooled mornings in the summer, then - after several hours of walking and looking & sometimes even buying - we went across the road to a wonderful little tea shop for lunch. It, too had a gift shop and the food was elegant but simple & delicious. I'm so glad you and your mom get to have these excursions! And an artists day out is INSPIRED! LOVE that idea!

See? There are no such places in Iceland. Just beautiful. I would enjoy a lunch and dinner in that place.

What a lovely place that must be to visit. A gem!

"1910 Victorian shop" I thought that looked Victorian. :-)
