Changes

For the last couple of weeks I have been thinking about this blog and the changes I would like to make.
Leikur og List literally means Play and Art. I got the idea for my blog name, from one of my favorite Icelandic sayings: Thad verdur hverjum ad list, sem hann leikur. Translation: Practice makes perfect.

My objective is to introduce my readers to my art world, and the many people in that world, that inspire and awe me. Which leads me to the changes I will be making. I hope that my dear and faithful reader and friends will stay with me.......I think you will like the changes.
In my next post I will be writing about an amazing doll artist that saved her life by making a doll.
In the following posts I will introduce you to one of my cousins who is an amazing painter.
I will give you another look at one of my favorite art destinations and further down the line there will be more interviews with doll artists. Doll art is often misunderstood, consequently many people have no idea what it is all about. It will be my pleasure to give you a glimpse into that world.
October 30 will be my first anniversary of blogging :)

I had a friend in San Francisco who used to be a high powered attorney that made partner in a famous firm... and then she left it all to make dolls. She said one morning she just felt the need to try to make dolls and so she did and she could not stop and her life changed forever.

Her dolls were breathtaking... we lost touch, for various reasons, but the brief encounter with her moved me...

I look forward to this new direction and to learning about so many other artists of the doll world... yes, it is a misunderstood art and a whole fascinating world all its own...

But you know what? I hope you still tell us more about MY fave doll artist, a certain LovaMo'a! Hmmmm? :-)

I am with MizB - eagerly awaiting the posts introducing us to artists and always wanting to hear about our favorite - you.

This is very exciting, I will keep checking back. Incidentally, one of the most memorable baby gifts we received for my daughter was that of a handmade doll. The maker said "Please don't put her on a shelf - play with her!" My daughter has and a ribbon or two have been lost. But she is sitting pretty on a shelf keeping a look out that the other toys don't get too carried away when we're not home.

this will be such a treat, Mo'a! but i echo the sentiments of Miz B and G... i lovelovelove reading about you and learning about your life, so i hope you'll find a way to do both--share the artistry of friends and colleagues (as well as yours) *and* continue to give us glimpses into the world that is uniquely and beautifully your own.

i am beyond intrigued to learn about Doll Art... and will eagerly look forward to each and every post! you are such a delight i'm just happy to be able to read your words & be exposed to anything and everything you have to say! xox

So here is the short version.....my computer had to have a long long very long scan yesterday.....Grrrrrrrrr!!!!.
Long version....dear blogger ate a very long reply to each of you Monday night......again Grrrrrr!!!
I feel better now :)

MizBohemia: I may know her, I know Dr.'s, Lawyers, Truck Drivers etc. that have turned to doll making. There is so much to tell about doll art *blush* your favorite that is what I like being....you are always so kind my dear MizB.

g: One of my favorite commissions was making a doll for a little boy who was about to become a big brother....dolls have so many roles in life......I think it would be a good blog to write about the doll I made for the little boy.....soooo I will say no more about it here.
Between you and MizB. I am getting quite a large head as the say "Stop it I love it"
I am getting rather adicted to talking about myself.....well it is easier in writing than face to face....still working on that.

Ariel: I am looking forward to sharing.

Doug: Now I feel on the spot....hope I can live up to your expectations.

My dear Neva: You also, I do feel my head swelling even more. As I said to Gina...I am quite addicted to talking about myself....on a roll as it were.....but for a while I will give others the spot light.
I am looking for you and Gina at my door.....so when is this happening? :) :) :)
